Rangeview Library Friends Foundation Hosts Sparkopolis, An Anythink-Style Party

Inaugural Event Raises Funds for Collaborative Public Art Project

THORNTON, Colo.–Aug. 2, 2010–On Saturday, Sept. 11, the Rangeview Library Friends Foundation continues its support of the library’s mission to “open doors for curious minds” with its first fundraising event, Sparkopolis. Money raised through the event supports the district’s collaborative public art project, “This is Who We Are.”

Just as Anythink provides a new style of library for its customers, Sparkopolis will be a new style of party for those who want to show their support for Rangeview Library District. The party will include fun, interactive experiences for guests not typical of most fundraising events, but which have come to be expected at an Anythink-style party. Fresh local foods and beverages will be served in the dazzling yet comfortable atmosphere of the district's 45,000-square-foot flagship library, Anythink Wright Farms.

Chef Ian Kleinman of The Inventing Room will use the new culinary techniques of molecular gastronomy to create a unique dining experience, where guests can interact with food in a way they will have to see to believe. Music provided by Denver ’s own Gypsy Swing Revue will have guests dancing all night long. Local artists will also be on hand to talk about their participation in the library district’s collaborative public art projects.

“This is Who We Are” will partner local artists with the people who use Anythink libraries to create public art funded by this event that will be displayed at each Anythink location in Adams County . The art creation groups formed at each branch will involve children, teens, and adults who will participate in a creative brainstorming led by a professional artist. Each group will define the details and scope of their branch art installations and work together to create them. All of the installations will reflect the character of the communities in which they are created and represent the identities of the people involved. The media used for each of the art installations will range from sculpture to painting, to sound and light, digital imagery and the written word.

Sparkopolis tickets are available for $75, with a discounted rate of $50 for “idea connoisseurs” 30 and under and can be purchased at anythinklibraries.org/sparkopolis. Tickets are available at the door for $100. For sponsorship information, please contact Dolores Sandoval at dsandoval@anythinklibraries.org.
