Denmark’s best gymnasts will perform at 7 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 15 in an exciting culture and sport show at Brighton High School Gym in Brighton Colorado.
The National Danish Performance Team will display this Scandinavian country’s tradition of rhythmic show gymnastics. Queen Margrethe II is their patroness.
The 28 gymnasts, ages 18-28, are selected for both skill and character to share an unforgettable Danish experience around the world. More than 1.5 million spectators have been thrilled by their performances in 60 countries.
The expressive show is both powerful and graceful. The team displays coordination, strength and balance in a fun family show called “Connections” filled with drama, humor and breakneck exercises.
The gymnasts, 14 men and 14 women, donate their time as unpaid ambassadors for their country.
“We have selected 28 of the most talented gymnasts and they are ready with a spectacular show,” said Johannes Bjerre, the show’s general manager. “The audience is in for an innovative performance of very high quality.”
Denmark’s tradition of gymnastics has Danes of all ages in gymnastics clubs and on teams during the winter ending with community performances.
Danish gymnasts have toured the globe to promote their culture and sport for 80 years. The National Danish Performance Team was created with the queen’s blessing in 1993 to showcase Denmark’s best gymnasts.
The team’s 2010 U.S. Tour began Oct. 9 with a performance at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington D.C.
