PGA grant helps Buffalo Run attract families, youth golfers

Buffalo Run designated as "PGA Family Course"

Commerce City, Colo. – This summer, Buffalo Run Golf Course will debut new family-friendly features thanks to a 2010 grant provided by the National Recreation and Parks Association (NRPA) and the Professional Golfers' Association (PGA). The grant, awarded to select municipal golf courses throughout the country, is intended to help courses make golf more enjoyable for families, attract beginner golfers and enable players of varying abilities to shoot similar scores, among other benefits.

By participating in the NRPA/PGA Family Course Grant Program, Buffalo Run also received the designation as a "PGA Family Course," joining an exclusive list of Colorado courses to carry the title.

The biggest and most noticeable change this year to Buffalo Run is the addition of youth tees. These tees shorten some holes on the course, which make them easier and more enjoyable for children and beginners.

“The youth tees are pretty unique. There aren’t many courses in Colorado that have them and they really allow for a better golf experience for our customers,” said Paul Hebinck, manager of golf and head golf professional at Buffalo Run. "We are hopeful these new features will make playing together for families even more enjoyable."

The PGA Family Course designation is sure to draw participants to the first session of Buffalo Run's Summer Junior Golf Camp. The camp is scheduled for June 6 – 9 and is designed for kids of all abilities, ages 7 – 17. Campers will learn rules and fundamentals of playing golf in a fun, laid-back setting and have the opportunity for on-course play. No equipment or experience is necessary.

Buffalo Run is an 18-hole links-style championship golf course located in Commerce City, Colo. Designed by renowned architect, Keith R. Foster, Buffalo Run has been recognized locally and nationally as one of the region's premier golf facilities, offering visitors of all ages and abilities a total golf experience for the last 15 years.
