Summer camp registration opens Wednesday, Feb. 23; an informational parent meeting will be held that evening.
Operated since 1997, summer camp is one of the city’s well-established programs. Licensed by the Colorado Department of Human Services, summer camp offers a high ratio of counselors to campers. It is also approved by Colorado’s Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP), which provides financial support for day care programs to families who meet income guidelines.
The camps are fun, active and staffed by caring professionals with several years of experience. Activities are tailored to different age groups: Camp for ages 6-10 is at the Recreation Center; camps for ages 11-15 are at the Recreation Center and at Second Creek Elementary School.
“We do something cool every day -- unlike my old camp,” is how one participant describes summer camp at the Commerce City Recreation Center. “It was way more fun and we do a lot more field trips than my last camp,” says another.
“This summer has been a blast,” said the parent of a 2010 camper. “So many fun-filled days made time really fly by. I hope each of you have enjoyed your summer as much as I know my son has. I can’t say ‘thank you’ enough to all of the staff.”
Parents are encouraged to enroll early to ensure a place for your child. For help filling out enrollment forms, bring a pre-printed information packet to the parent meeting. Packets will be available beginning Feb. 23 online at www.c3gov.com (click on Recreation and Outdoors). Pre-printed packets will also be available for purchase from the Recreation Center for $10.
